Privacy & blogging is an upcoming challenge for the next 6 months

Daily writing prompt
What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months?

This post is a few days late, due to some personal stuff that has happened in the past week or so that made me think if this post should be published or not. I decided to publish it, so please – enjoy!

As a blogger it can sometimes be a struggle to find out what to write next while writing in a blog it’s also a journey filled with creativity and connection with others in the blogosphere.

As I look ahead to the next 6 months of this life, my biggest challenge isn’t just about finding ideas, but it’s also about balancing my love for blogging and the desire to keep my life private. When you’re mindful about what you share, it can sometimes feel like you’re writing with an invisible filter. How do you keep your blog engaging without oversharing?

Well, for me I’ve found a clear way to do just that, but I’ve also see a repeated pattern that in the end will feel exhausting for the reader to go through in the end. How do you build connections without laying everything out for the world to see?

Well, it’s a challenge I’m setting out to tackle, since writing about something else besides my life is what I’m trying to do here. Or just being personal without telling you personal details.

Balancing Blogging and Privacy: A Creative Journey

I’ve stated multiple times on this blog, that as a blogger or a writer you can focus on ideas that spark discussion without needing personal anecdotes. You can write about experiences in a more general way which in short means that instead of sayin “this happened to me” you can say, “we can all relate to this thing that can happen to all of us.

I also think it’s kind of funny that I am absolutely not alone in the feelings I have or moments in my life that actually have happened, because I read about or hear about them all the time. That is why it feels easy to say that I can relate, because I can, and I’m not alone in my observations. I also explore themes like creativity and inspiration and the writing process instead of my very personal story.

I’d like to use humor and curiosity or thought provoking questions to create engaging posts, even though I haven’t really started using the latter type of posts so far. I’m thinking those will come at a later point when the subscriber base is a bit higher, or I’m just bored with inspiring you 😂.

I do encourage interaction in the comments section and I love it when the comments come pouring in and I also love that my readers who are leaving comments respect both my privacy and their own. I also do think it’s really important to highlight the community aspect of blogging, because great conversations actually do not need to include that many personal details.

I strike a balance I think, between expressing thoughts and keeping personal boundaries intact and I do this while avoiding specifics while I still write with a personal view and I use my own writing “voice” to do it. Using metaphors and creative storytelling or using fictional examples to illustrate points is something

I usually use chatGPT for that, and it’s going well. Without it I probably could not write this way, because everything I can think of that I’d like to share with you is far too personal and as we all know by now, personal details are not something I plan on sharing here.

I avoid burnout by planning ahead, using the schedule feature, and I usually have a list of topics or ideas to use, and that’s also something that AI is helping me do which is both unfortunate and very blessed. The problem I’ve encountered using AI services is repeated topics and the same advice being shared in 10 different ways, so I’ve had to tell them to not do that 😂.

I’ve experimented with formats like lists, headings and paragraphs to make the post easy to read and understand for you and I also accept that not every post needs to be personal to be meaningful or engaging to my audience. I still find it mind boggling that the AI reading grade score is so different from each post. Sometimes I can score an 8 without even trying, and this one is over 12, whereas it should be lower. The use of headers, images and the like is supposed to get me a higher grade, but it’s not consistent at all unfortunately.

You can find the AI assistant in the right hand sidebar if you have a paid plan and I recommend you use it to improve your writing

Writing a blog with privacy in mind does not have to be isolating, even if it can feel that way sometimes and the reasons for why it does not feel isolating is due to the tight knit community I’ve found here. That’s because I do see the same familiar faces in the WordPress reader and in my comment section.

It’s so nice to already have the feeling of friends, when I’m so short into this blogging thing of mine. As of writing this post, this blog has been alive for a few months, and about a month since I actually started to write for real and I marvel at how easy the WordPress reader and community has found me and how they keep me company on this journey. We have such meaningful connections and we build it through shared ideas and discussion and mutual support, and not just personal details.

Final thoughts

At the end of the day, blogging is about sharing ideas, sparking conversations, and enjoying the process of writing. Keeping privacy in mind doesn’t have to mean holding back creativity—it just means being intentional about what and how we share. The beauty of blogging is that connection isn’t built on oversharing, but on the thoughts, perspectives, and stories we choose to put out into the world. And with such a tight-knit and supportive WordPress.com community, there’s always room to grow, interact, and stay inspired—without feeling the need to reveal too much. So, as I navigate the next six months, my focus isn’t just on what I write, but on how I keep blogging in a way that feels both meaningful and true to me.
