Hey there blogger friends and other fellows. Today we’re gonna talk about why having a niched blog is the best, and why I (for some reason) do not have one. Let’s jump right in, shall we?
A niched blog has it easier for SEO purposes…
But not necessarily for other reasons. Say you have a blog about boats, or maybe dogs, then you attract people who love either boats or dogs, and it’s helpful to write about all the aspects of whatever niche you’ve chosen. A personal blog, however is not niched, because in a personal blog – you often write about whatever you want. Anything from personal experiences to world news and you put your own spin on it.
That, in both my experience and others is harder for SEO purposes to get noticed. Perhaps a few posts here and there gets a lot of reads, but if you jumble your topics around, it’s hard to get known for something. However, that should not mean that not having a niched blog is bad. Not at all. Many people, including myself actually prefers the personal touch, even though it’s almost impossible to make money off of it.
With all the guides and tutorials that other bloggers often write, it’s always dedicated to those with a niched blog, and that’s kind of sad, even though it’s both logical and true. I don’t know why it’s so impossible to make money off of a personal blog, when the most popular YouTube channels often are those with extreme personal sharing that get the most views. People want to know what is going on in the life of the Kardashians, but who cares about Fedora Pancakes? It’s quite unfair, even though it also kind of makes sense.
My blog is personal without sharing all the details, both for a good cause and for a bad one. The good cause is that I am safe and can write freely about what I want to share in a style that suits me and tells the story at the same time. The bad is, because I do not share specifics at all, I guess it can seem a bit boring and sometimes fake. I’m sorry about that, but if I’m gonna have a blog at all, I have to have a style like this and I hope that my readers can learn more about being safe online because of how I choose to write.
So yeah, I do not have a niched blog and that’s fine. As long as you come back to read some more, I’m happy and it’s a win-win.
